About CAGEMATCH!

CAGEMATCH orginated in Chicago at the iO Theater during the late 90s. Since that time there have been 10 successful seasons of CAGEMATCH in NYC and it has spread throughout the United States. The show is the brainchild of Kevin Mullaney (creator of the Improv Resource Center website, and former UCB Education Director).

CAGEMATCH isthe world's most dangerous Improv show, where two mighty teams of gladiators will take the stage to prove who is the best of the best. It is not an exhibition. It is a no-holds-barred competition. The audience determines the winner each month via secret ballot. The winner returns the following month to defend their title against a new challenger.

In Philadelphia, CAGEMATCH has been taking place monthly since September 2007. The contests showcase the best improv talent Philadelphia has to offer, and have received good reviews in the press and from audiences.

CAGEMATCH Philly is produced by the Philly Improv Theater, PHIT for short (which is pronounced "fit"). PHIT is Philly's only longform improv theater and in addition to producing shows throughout the city offers classes in improv comedy for everyone from beginners to experts, of all ages, all over the place.
